Privacy
This is my professional portfolio. I collect as little data as possible and explain here which data, what for and how to ask for it to be deleted.
Who is responsible
Patrick Joel Sarmiento, Madrid (Spain). Contact: patrickjoel@outlook.com.
Visit measurement
To know whether my professional portfolio works, I record each complete visit (all the pages you see in the same browser session):
- your IP address, the approximate location derived from it (city and country) and your internet provider;
- the browser, the system and the type of device (I do not keep the full browser string) and the website you come from (LinkedIn, Google, direct…);
- the pages and sections you see, what you click (the projects, experience and education items you open, the CV download in Spanish or English, WhatsApp, email, LinkedIn, GitHub, language or theme changes), how many questions you ask Melissa, which opening sentences are shown to you and how long the visit lasts.
What for: to measure how effective the website is (what is read, what works and what does not) and to know how much interest it attracts. I do not use this data to identify you, I do not combine it with other data and I do not share it with anyone.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in measuring the effectiveness of my professional portfolio, with the minimum amount of data.
How long: 30 days. The data is stored on my server, outside the website, and deleted automatically after that period. When your visit ends I receive a single private notice on my Telegram with this summary (which I delete within 30 days at most) and, every week, a report with totals and percentages.
Services involved: ip-api.com, which calculates the approximate location from the IP, and Telegram, which delivers the notice.
No tracking cookies: to group your visit I use your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab.
If you do not want your visit to be measured: turn on «Do Not Track» or «Global Privacy Control» in your browser. With either of them, the website records and sends nothing.
Chat with Melissa
The questions you write to Melissa are processed on my server. Frequent ones are answered directly; the rest are sent, without your IP, to an artificial intelligence model through OpenRouter to generate the answer. To improve the answers, I store the questions you write and Melissa's replies anonymously, for 30 days: without your IP, without browser data and with a random identifier that only groups the messages of one conversation. Before storing them, I replace the emails, phone numbers and links you type with [email], [tel] and [url]. After 30 days they are deleted automatically. Please do not write personal data in the chat.
In addition, to decide which artificial intelligence model to use, I keep anonymous technical statistics of each answer (which model replied, how long it took and whether it worked) for 13 months. They carry no IP, no questions, no answers and no identifier: they cannot be linked to you.
To prevent abuse, the server records how many questions are asked from each connection, with an encrypted fingerprint of the IP, for 24 hours. The conversation is kept in your own browser while the tab stays open; closing the chat with the ✕ deletes it.
Voice questions
If you use the chat microphone, it is your browser that transcribes the audio (Chrome does it with Google services; Safari, with Apple's). I only receive the text already transcribed. Reading the answers aloud is also done by your browser.
Cookies
This website does not use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. The only cookie exists solely in the owner's own browsers, so that he does not notify himself of his own visits.
Your rights
You can ask for access, rectification, erasure, objection or restriction of processing by writing to patrickjoel@outlook.com. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
